ca. 1975; silver gelatine print

Othello’s Tower is a fortress built in the 14th century to guard the harbour in Famagusta, a city situated in northeast of the island. The site gets its name from Shakespeare’s famous play which is set in a town in Cyprus. This photograph was taken in the interior court, long before a restoration project turned it in an open-air theatre performance place. After 1974 Famagusta came under Turkish Cypriot authority.
